First of all you need to know if he has somebody else in his life. Call him up and say hi, after all you are still friends, not like you are enemies, tell him you are done with studies and you are back in town.

Don’t try to rush him into getting back together with you, he might think you are desperate and that would be a disadvantage to the process.

Get talking to him, and get back to being friends with him, then you can tell if it’s possible for you to get him back or not. If he loved you as much, you will get back together again.
