What do you do when you get your heart broken?

April 19th, 2010 by admin | Filed in Getting Over An Ex

It’s funny, I can handle failing a test, getting rejected from an interview, getting fired from job, slipping and falling on my face in the middle of a crowd of people… I just smile and forget about it…. but I have an emotional crisis whenever I get my heart broken.

What do you do to heal a broken heart? (personally I mean, what works for you?)

Me, I take a couple of days off and cry alone in my bed, watching episodes of Ally McBeal (she is just like me – always picking the wrong guys) and drinking lots of diet coke, then I throw myself into work and spend countless hours at the gym doing weight lifting and kickboxing (I like to imagine him as the punching bag)… then I usually swear off love and men for a long time…. then one day this man always comes along restores my faith in love only to hurt me again…. this time I think I am swearing off love for good. I am getting too old for this emotional tossing and turning! From this point on, I vow to be alone!!! Alone is much better than this torture.

It’s just like the morning after you got way too drunk; You swear that you will never drink again! Then your friends invite you to a party the following week and you find yourself drunk again. Love is the same way. You get hurt, but you eventually get over it. Then you find yourself falling in love again.

There is no foolproof way to get over a broken heart. The best thing to do is to stay active. Spend time with family and friends. Go to the gym, spend more time working, start a new hobby. Think of things in a positive way. Now that you are single, you have more free time to do all of the things that you wanted to do. You can finally learn how to play the piano, join a hiking club, or take a dance class. There are so much possibilities but the best thing to remember is that if you stay active, you have less time to feel sorry for yourself. Also, you meet more people and improve the chances of finding another person who just might be the "one."

I’m the same as you when it comes to rejection.

When I’m broken in the heart like right now (weird way to write heartbroken, huh?), I also kinda swear off women and love, as I’m doing right now. I also listen to music that’s relating to my pain. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I kinda wanna give up love, too.

    VIVA LA RAZA!
