Why Is It Some People Say They Are Going To Kill Themselves, After Getting Dumped By Their Lovers?

May 25th, 2010 by admin | Filed in Getting Back Together

I think its very ridiculous to say that you are going to commit suicide because you got dumped. If you attempt suicide and get hospitalised, you are not going to win back your girlfriend/boyfriend, they wouldn’t care.
Do they ever stop to think they are people who love them, why say you are going to kill yourself?

Those people are usually immature and looking for a significant other only to be infatuated with them. They have no idea what true love is. To find true love, one must posses self-love.

when some people are in relationships they get very mentally involved and when it ends they feel like their lives are over. people say things they don’t mean when they are upset or mad. Don’t you? I know I do. Some people are just more extreme about it than others.

Those people need someone to tell them to spend less time trying to be loved and more time finding out who they are and becoming comfortable with themselves.. not living their lives like parasites – dependent on others.

Trying to instill guilt. I don’t get that either, why someone would try to scare someone into being with them that doesn’t want them. I’d much rather find someone that loves me back.

MOST of the time they say that for attention, but on rare occasions, they are serious and anyone who says that, serious or not, is disturbed and not thinking rationally.

I don’t know but in most cases the person they are killing themselves over would soon forget about them anyway and go on with their life as if nothing ever happened. It’s sad but true.

Rejection generates really strong emotions, combined with the love emotion, that is still there, it can very difficult to handle for weak people or those who don’t know how to be alone. So, I understand why they might feel that way, but verbalizing it is often just to wallow around in drama and get attention. Saying it to someone to get them not to dump you, like, "If you leave me I’ll kill myself," is emotional blackmail that should just be ignored. The best way to deal with it is to say that if they are serious you’re going to call the police. It usually draws a curtain on the play pretty quickly. Of course if you think someone might do that, that’s exactly what you should do.

Mostly, they say it to make the dumper feel guilty (I’m going to hurt you the way you hurt me by killing myself, then you’ll be sorry). Yes, it is kind of stupid but people get stupid when their heart gets broken–and you tend to think it’s the end of the world. However, although it may sound very very heartless of me, I’d far prefer that they kill themselves then take it out on the rest of us innocents. A lot of people have gotten hurt or killed because some jilted lover shoots up the place his former lover works or goes to school, not carrying that these innocent people got killed or hurt, or some other crazy stunt to make his former lover feel bad for breaking up.
