how should i go about making a clean break with him?

September 12th, 2009 by admin | Filed in Getting Over An Ex

hi
i’ve been going out with this cocky, interesting guy for about two months. He has endless amounts of self confidence and thinks he’s the bomb. He’s always playing games with me, which i love, but now its getting tiring.

i’m seeing him this wednesday, on my birthday, and i’ve made my decision to break up with him. i hate letting relationships rot; im not very happy with him right now.
he likes me a lot, but never shows it.
how do i make a nice clean break with him, especially because it’s my birthday and he’s having dinner with my parents. he wont know what hit him, he doesnt expect it at all.

thanks for your help!
please note: i cant wait any longer to break up with him, it has to be as soon as possible. we already made plans for wendesday, and i dont want to break up over the phone

this relationship is long distance.

why ruin your birthday by breaking up with him it could end up very messy, especially with your parents there. how humiliating for him. phone him beforehand and do it over the phone, explain that you dont feel right celebrating your birthday with him knowing the way you feel. he will probs respect you more and it will be a cleaner break than the other option.

If it were me, I’d go ahead and let him know by e-mail or phone. He will come to visit you probably as pre-arranged and want to have it out with you. Try and convince you that this is wrong and try to get you to change your mind. I would not leave my house to go anywhere with him. Just tell him…..plain and simple, there doesn’t have to be a particular reason, just tell him, that you’ve thought it over and see no future between you, and so, goodbye. Don’t let it drag on and on; don’t discuss it over and over, ask him to leave, please, if necessary.
